Surah 96
Surah Al-'Alaq: The Blood-Clot
Revealed at Makkah
With the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Rewarding
96:1
READ in the name of your Rabb Who created.
96:2
He created man from a blood-clot.
96:3
Read! for your Rabb is the most Honorable,
96:4
Who has taught by the pen,—
96:5
has taught man what he did not know.
96:6
No, verily man does transgress,
96:7
because he looks upon himself as self sufficient.
96:8
Surely to your Rabb is the return.
96:9
Have you seen him who forbids—
96:10
a bondsman when he performs Salat ?
96:11
Do you see whether he is upon the guidance,
96:12
or he enjoins reverence?
96:13
Do you see if he rejects and turns back?
96:14
Does he not know that Allah surely sees?
96:15
No, if he does not desist, We shall surely drag him by the forelock,—
96:16
a forelock— lying, sinful!
96:17
Then let him call his council,
96:18
We shall also summon the guards.
96:19
No, do not obey him, rather perform SAJDAH, and draw near.
